Why pick me
Or a little bit about who I am and what I believe
The connection between a celebrant and their couples can be really important in making a ceremony pop. So what I believe, who I am and how I work might give you some clues as to whether we'd make a good match and whether you'd like to get in touch.
Who are you?!
Great question. I'm Dan. Hi :)

I'm the one who thinks you should trust him with your wedding ceremony, which is quite the claim I know!

I'm a former leadership trainer, consultant and theatre technician.

In my free time I play a lot (some might say too many) board games. I also coach my local roller derby team to the best of my abilities. I'm not much of a skater myself but then I don't need to be so long as they all are ;)

I love all things sci fi and most things fantasy as well as pop science and particularly psychology (my old, professional specialist chosen subject being the psychology and neuroscience of learning).

About life
I'm a Humanist. You probably knew that given you've found your way here!

That means I believe that this life is the only one we have. So we should grab it with both hands.

I believe that our thinking and public policy should be lead by science and reason alongside deep, human compassion.

I also believe we have a responsibility to each other and to the planet to leave behind a world better than the one we were born into.

Most of all it means I believe that the answer to our problems lies in loving more and hating less.

Because of my beliefs my ceremonies are all non-religious in nature. If you'd like to have significant religious elements in your ceremony then I just might not be the best choice for you. If you're not sure then drop me a line and we can talk about it :)

I was trained by Humanists UK and they accredit me and my practice.
About ceremonies
I believe that ceremonies can and should bring people together.
They should be meaningful highlights of a day of celebration rather than a formality to be hurried through. That's not to say I can't be succinct but you'll always find that even then I write pretty punchy ceremonies ;)

I also believe all ceremonies should be unique to you. If you want a beautiful, classic ceremony then that's what you should have. If you want to weave references to things that are important to you throughout then that's what you should have. If you want a full on themed wedding with a ceremony to match then that's what you should have.
About people
I believe that our diversity is what makes us great.

I believe there is a duty on us all to use whatever priviledge we have to help those who don't.

I am passionate about helping everyone have the brilliant wedding ceremony best suited to them.

Explicitly that means it's important to me that my ceremonies are accessible to everyone -

LGBTQIA+ people
People with specific accessibility or disability needs
Black, Asian or any and all minority ethnic or race groups
